Zhongshan is a prefecture-level city located in the southern region of China's Pearl River Delta within Guangdong province. It was formerly known by the names Shiqi or Shekki in its core subdistricts.
As of the 2020 census, the city has a population of approximately 4,418,060 inhabitants. It is currently integrated into the Guangzhou–Shenzhen conurbation, which has a total population of over 65 million people.
