Maojia

China

Maojia is a settlement in Hunan province in southern China. It should not be confused with other places bearing similar names in the region.

The locality is chiefly known as the namesake of Maojiahua, or the Maojia dialect, a mixed language of southern China. Maojiahua is an unclassified Sinitic language that has undergone influence from Hmongic languages, reflecting the linguistic contact between Sinitic and Hmongic-speaking communities in the area.

Beyond its association with this dialect, little documented information about Maojia as a city is available.
