Dongping is a county in China's Hunan province. It forms part of the prefecture-level city of Shaoyang, in the south-central portion of the province.
Like much of Hunan, the area around Dongping is characterized by a humid subtropical climate, with hot summers and relatively mild winters. The surrounding region is largely agricultural, with rice cultivation and other farming typical of the province's rural counties.
Dongping should not be confused with Dongping County in Shandong Province, a separate administrative area in eastern China that shares the same name.
