Bamaoxi is a rural township in Sangzhi County, within the prefecture-level city of Zhangjiajie, in Hunan Province, China. It is one of the county's township-level administrative divisions, situated in the mountainous terrain of northwestern Hunan.
As a township rather than a city, Bamaoxi is a small administrative unit that typically encompasses a central settlement and the surrounding villages and farmland. Sangzhi County, to which it belongs, lies in a largely rural and upland part of Hunan, and the area around Bamaoxi is characterized by this countryside setting rather than by urban development.
Bamaoxi falls under the administration of Zhangjiajie, a prefecture-level city best known for its dramatic sandstone pillar landscapes. The township itself, however, is a modest rural community within Sangzhi County and is not a major urban or tourist center in its own right.
