Gaoyi is a county in Hebei Province, North China. It is administered by Shijiazhuang, the provincial capital, as one of the county-level divisions under that prefecture-level city.
The county lies within the broader North China Plain region surrounding Shijiazhuang, in the northern part of the country. As a county rather than a city proper, it forms part of the administrative structure through which Shijiazhuang governs its surrounding territory.
Gaoyi should not be confused with places of similar name elsewhere in China, including Gaoyi County in Hunan Province. The Hebei county is defined chiefly by its administrative position within Shijiazhuang and its location in Hebei, North China.
