Guofu is a town in Heilongjiang province, in northeastern China. It lies within the administrative area of a county-level city in the region, in a part of the country characterised by long, cold winters and a short growing season.
Like much of Heilongjiang, the area around Guofu is primarily agricultural, with grain cultivation forming the mainstay of the local economy. The province as a whole is China's leading producer of soybeans and a major source of maize and wheat, and settlements of this kind typically serve as small market and service centres for the surrounding farmland.
Heilongjiang sits in China's far northeast, bordering Russia along the Amur and Ussuri rivers, and its towns are connected by a rail and road network that developed through the twentieth century. Detailed published information on Guofu itself is limited, and its name is shared with other places, so it should not be confused with larger or better-known locations.
