Huashan is a city in Jilin Province, in northeastern China. It lies within the administrative region of Jilin and forms part of the province's network of municipalities and districts. It should not be confused with Mount Hua, the well-known mountain near Huayin in Shaanxi Province, which shares a similar romanised name but is a separate place several hundred kilometres to the southwest.
As a Jilin locality, Huashan belongs to China's northeast, a region characterised by cold winters and a distinct administrative and cultural identity within the country. The city is one of many settlements in Jilin Province, which is bordered by Heilongjiang to the north, Liaoning to the south, and the Korean Peninsula and Russia to the east.
Detailed information about Huashan's specific history, economy, and attractions is limited in widely available English-language sources. Travellers seeking information about the better-known Mount Hua should note that it is located in Shaanxi Province, roughly 120 kilometres east of Xi'an, and is counted as the "Western Mountain" of the Five Great Mountains of China, with its highest point, the South Peak, reaching 2,154.9 metres.
