Gongyi is a county-level city in Henan Province, South Central China. It is administered by the prefecture-level city of Zhengzhou, the provincial capital. The city was formerly known as Gong County.
Gongyi covers an area of 1,041 square kilometres (402 square miles) and has a population of approximately 790,000. As a county-level city, it forms part of the Zhengzhou administrative area rather than being an independent prefecture-level entity.
