Fu'an

China

Fu'an is a county-level city under the administration of Ningde, a prefecture-level city in northeast Fujian province, China. It lies roughly 150 kilometres (93 miles) north of Fuzhou, the provincial capital.

Together with Fuzhou and Cangnan, a county-level city of Wenzhou prefecture in neighbouring Zhejiang province, Fu'an forms part of the Min Dong (Eastern Min) linguistic and cultural region of China.

Fu'an, Fuzhou and the wider Eastern Min region are the areas of mainland China closest geographically to the Matsu Islands, an archipelago of 36 islands within Lienchiang county of Taiwan.
