Jintun is a town in Jiaxiang County, which falls under the administration of Jining city in southwestern Shandong province, China. It is a township-level administrative unit rather than a major urban centre, and it sits within the flat agricultural plains that characterise much of this part of western Shandong.
The surrounding Jiaxiang area is known historically as the birthplace of Zengzi, one of the principal disciples of Confucius, and the broader Jining region is closely associated with Confucian heritage. Jining itself lies near the Grand Canal and is a significant transport and cultural hub in southwestern Shandong.
Jintun's economy and daily life are typical of towns in this region, tied largely to farming and local trade within Jiaxiang County. It is not a well-known tourist destination and is best understood as part of the rural and small-town fabric of Jining's hinterland rather than as a standalone attraction.
