Gongqingcheng is a sub-prefecture-level city located in the Jiangxi province of the People's Republic of China. Established on September 10, 2010, it was originally part of the jurisdiction of Jiujiang before being redesignated as a city directly administered by the province on July 1, 2014. The city covers an area of approximately 193 square kilometers.
Geographically, Gongqingcheng is situated in the foothills of Mount Lu and lies on the western shore of Poyang Lake. It is located roughly 62 kilometers north of Nanchang, the provincial capital, and sits near the counties of De'an, Yongxiu, and Lushan. The city currently has a population of 120,000 people, including 68,000 permanent residents, with future plans to expand the population to 400,000.
The city holds a unique distinction as the only city in China named after the Communist Youth League of China. The name "Gongqingcheng" literally translates to "Communist Youth League City," derived from the Chinese abbreviation for the organization, "共青团."
