Lushan

China

Lushan is a city in China's Jiangxi province, administered as part of Jiujiang. It should not be confused with the Zhejiang region or with other places of the same name; the Lushan referenced in the source material is the Jiangxi city, which takes its name from the mountain it contains.

The city is best known as the location of Mount Lu (also called Lushan), one of China's most renowned mountains. The mountain and its immediate surroundings are officially designated as Lushan National Park. Mount Lu lies primarily within Lushan City, though its northern portions extend into Jiujiang's Lianxi District.

The mountain is oval-shaped, roughly 25 kilometers (16 mi) long and 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) wide. It borders Jiujiang and the Yangtze River to the north, Nanchang to the south, and Poyang Lake to the east. Its highest point, Dahanyang Peak, reaches 1,474 meters (4,836 ft) above sea level and is among the hundreds of steep peaks that rise above a sea of clouds covering the mountain for almost 200 days each year.
