Chengdong

China

Chengdong is a district of Xining, the capital of Qinghai Province in northwest China. It is one of the four districts that make up the prefecture-level city of Xining. The name Chengdong means "city east," reflecting its position on the eastern side of the urban area.

As a district rather than an independent city, Chengdong forms part of Xining's administrative structure and shares in the wider functions of the provincial capital, which serves as the political, economic, and cultural centre of Qinghai. Xining itself lies in a river valley on the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, a location that shapes the region's high-altitude setting and its role as a gateway between China's interior and the western highlands.

Detailed information about Chengdong's specific landmarks, population, and history is limited in readily available sources, and it is often confused with other places bearing the same name. What is firmly established is its status as one of the four districts of Xining, within Qinghai Province, in northwest China.
