Hecheng

China

Hecheng is a district in China that serves as the seat of Huaihua, a prefecture-level city. It is located in Hunan Province, in the south-central part of the country. As the only urban district of Huaihua, it forms the administrative and commercial core of the wider municipal area.

The district functions as the principal urban center for Huaihua's surrounding counties and towns, concentrating government offices, transport links, and business activity. Its status as the sole urban district distinguishes it within the prefecture, where the remaining divisions are largely rural counties and autonomous counties.

Hecheng lies within a region of Hunan characterized by a humid subtropical climate and a landscape of hills and river valleys. The area is also associated with the broader cultural and historical heritage of western Hunan, including the presence of various ethnic minority communities in the surrounding prefecture.
