Mount Royal is an affluent suburban town located on the northwest side of Mount Royal mountain, northwest of downtown Montreal on the Island of Montreal in southwestern Quebec, Canada. The town is completely surrounded by the city of Montreal and had a population of 20,953 as of the 2021 Canadian census.
In 2008, most of Mount Royal was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in recognition of its "remarkable synthesis of urban renewal movements of the early 20th century, reflecting the influence of the City Beautiful, Garden City and Garden Suburb movements." The town celebrated its centennial in 2012, marking a century of development as a planned suburban community.
