Hamilton is a port city located in Ontario, Canada, approximately 45 kilometres southwest of Toronto. As of the 2021 Canadian census, the city proper had a population of 569,353, making it a significant urban centre in the province. The greater metropolitan area, which includes the surrounding municipalities of Burlington and Grimsby, has a population of 785,184.
The city's location on the shores of Lake Ontario has historically made it an important port and industrial hub. Hamilton is part of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), a large metropolitan region in southern Ontario.
