Itaqui is a municipality located in the southwestern region of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Situated near the border with Argentina, the town is positioned geographically between the cities of Uruguaiana and São Borja.
The municipality sits at a mean altitude of 57 meters (187 feet) along the banks of the Uruguay River. As of current estimates, the population of Itaqui is approximately 37,489 residents.
