Charqueadas is a municipality located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Situated in the eastern-central part of the state, it lies on the southern side of the Jacuí River. The city is positioned approximately 57 kilometers (35 miles) west of Porto Alegre, which serves as both the state capital and the most populous city in the region.
The municipality covers an area of 214.80 square kilometers (82.93 square miles) and has a population of 41,258 residents. It is noted as the largest municipality by population within its specific region. Charqueadas shares borders with several neighboring municipalities: Arroio dos Ratos to the south, Triunfo to the north, Eldorado do Sul to the east, and São Jerônimo to the west.
