Mendes is a municipality in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. It lies within the state's interior, in the region surrounding the city of Rio de Janeiro.
The municipality covers an area of about 96 square kilometres (37 square miles). Its population was recorded at 18,648 in 2020.
