Santos Dumont is a municipality located in the southern region of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The city was officially established as a municipality in 1889 and covers a total area of approximately 639.1 square kilometers. It sits at an elevation of 839 meters above sea level.
The city is situated along the BR-040 interstate highway, positioned between the urban centers of Barbacena to the north and Juiz de Fora to the south. Geographically, it is located roughly 240 kilometers from the state capital of Belo Horizonte and 220 kilometers from the city of Rio de Janeiro. As of 2020, the municipality had an estimated population of 46,421 residents.
