Marau is a municipality located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil. It is situated within the interior region of the state.
The settlement was primarily established and populated by Italian immigrants who moved to the area to escape the conditions of war in their home country. The community maintains its identity as a result of this historical migration.
