Ruse

Bulgaria

Ruse is the sixth-largest city in Bulgaria, located in the northeastern part of the country on the right bank of the Danube River. Situated opposite the Romanian city of Giurgiu, it is approximately 67 kilometers south of Bucharest, 172 kilometers from Varna, and 249 kilometers from Sofia.

The city's strategic position on the Danube has made it Bulgaria's most significant river port and a major hub for international trade. Ruse is connected to Romania via both railway and road bridges spanning the Danube, facilitating commerce and transportation across the border. As one of the twelve largest cities on the Danube River itself, Ruse serves as an important gateway for the country's economic activity.
