Waregem, historically spelled Waereghem, is a municipality and city situated in the province of West Flanders within the Flanders region of Belgium. Located in the valley of the river Lys, the city sits geographically between the cities of Kortrijk and Ghent.
The municipality covers a total area of 44.34 km² and has a population density of 901 inhabitants per km². As of January 1, 2024, the total population was recorded at 39,970. The administrative district of Kortrijk includes the towns of Beveren, Desselgem, Sint-Eloois-Vijve, and Waregem proper.
