Peer

Belgium

Peer is a municipality and city in the province of Limburg, within the Flemish Region of Belgium. It holds the status of both a city and a municipality, a dual designation common among Belgian towns.

The municipality covers a total area of 86.95 square kilometres. As of January 1, 2006, it had a total population of 15,810, giving a population density of 182 inhabitants per square kilometre. These figures reflect the municipality as a whole rather than the central town alone.

Peer is located in Limburg, the easternmost province of Flanders, a region that borders the Netherlands. Its modest population and relatively low density distinguish it from Belgium's larger urban centres.
