Palmerston is a planned satellite city located in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is situated approximately 20 kilometres from the central business district of Darwin, which serves as the territory's capital and largest city. The city also lies about 10 kilometres from Howard Springs and its surrounding rural areas.
As of the 2021 census, Palmerston has a population of 37,247 people. This growth follows the 2016 census, which recorded a population of 33,695, making it the second-largest city in the Northern Territory.
