Taree is a town located in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. Situated on a floodplain by the Manning River, it is positioned approximately 16 kilometers from the Tasman Sea coast and 317 kilometers north of Sydney.
The area was settled in 1831 by William Wynter, who also settled the nearby locality of Cundletown. Since its establishment, Taree has grown to a population of 16,715 and serves as a hub for a significant agricultural district.
