Rankweil is a town in the district of Feldkirch in Vorarlberg, the westernmost state of Austria. It is the second largest town in the Feldkirch district and the eighth largest town in Vorarlberg.
The town lies in Austria's far west, within the Rhine valley area of Vorarlberg, close to the borders with Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Its position in the Feldkirch district places it in the southern part of the state, near the district capital of Feldkirch.
Rankweil's standing as the second largest town in its district and the eighth largest in Vorarlberg makes it one of the more prominent settlements in this westernmost Austrian state.
