Kaltenbach is a municipality in the Schwaz district of the Austrian state of Tyrol. It lies in the Zillertal, the valley of the Ziller river, in the western part of Austria.
The village is known as the home of the Hochzillertal ski area, whose lifts begin directly above the settlement and connect it to the wider Zillertal ski network. This access to the slopes has made tourism, particularly winter sports, a central part of the local economy.
Kaltenbach is also the starting point of the Zillertaler Höhenstraße, a scenic mountain road that climbs from the valley floor to viewpoints and alpine pastures above the village. The municipality is served by the Zillertalbahn railway, which links it with other communities in the valley.
