Heiterwang is a municipality in the district of Reutte, in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It lies in the Außerfern, the part of Tyrol that sits in the Alps in the far west of Austria, near the border with Germany.
The village is set in the Reutte district, a region of the Tyrolean Alps known for its mountain scenery and its lakes. Heiterwang is closely associated with the Heiterwangsee, a small lake on its doorstep, which is one of the area's local landmarks.
As a municipality, Heiterwang is one of the smaller communities of the Reutte district, which is made up of a number of villages and towns spread through the surrounding valleys.
