Ligist is a municipality in the district of Voitsberg, in the Austrian state of Styria. It lies in the western part of Styria, within the Voitsberg district, a region of the country's south-central area.
As a municipality, Ligist is one of the local administrative units that make up the Voitsberg district, alongside the district's other towns and communes. The district itself is centred on the town of Voitsberg.
Ligist is located in Austria, a landlocked country in Central Europe, and in Styria, one of Austria's nine federal states. Its position within the Voitsberg district places it in the western Styrian landscape rather than in the state's larger urban centres such as Graz.
