Köflach is a small city in the district of Voitsberg, in the Austrian state of Styria. It lies at the foot of the Stubalpe mountain and is connected by rail to the nearby town of Voitsberg.
The city is home to a federal stud in the village of Piber, which supplies the Lipizzaner horses used by the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. Köflach was traditionally known for coal mining, and is gradually changing from an industrial town into a centre of the service sector.
