Fernitz is a former municipality in the district of Graz-Umgebung in the Austrian state of Styria. In January 2015 it was merged into the municipality of Fernitz-Mellach, and it no longer exists as an independent administrative unit.
It is located in the southern part of Styria, within the Graz-Umgebung District, in the area surrounding the city of Graz. The settlement lies in the broader Alpine foothills region of southeastern Austria.
Its most notable characteristic is its administrative history: Fernitz was an independent municipality until the 2015 merger that created Fernitz-Mellach, of which it now forms a part.
