Eppenstein is a former municipality in the district of Murtal, in the Austrian state of Styria. It lies in the Murtal region of central Austria, within the federal state of Styria (Steiermark).
Since the 2015 Styria municipal structural reform, Eppenstein is no longer an independent municipality and has been part of the municipality of Weißkirchen in Steiermark. The reform merged a number of small Styrian municipalities into larger administrative units.
Its administrative incorporation into Weißkirchen in Steiermark means that local governance and municipal services for the area are now handled at that level rather than by a separate Eppenstein administration.
