Edelschrott is a municipality in the district of Voitsberg, in the Austrian state of Styria. It lies in the western part of Styria, within the Voitsberg district, an area of the state known for its Alpine foothills and rural character.
As a municipality, Edelschrott is one of the local administrative units that make up the Voitsberg district, alongside the district's other towns and communes. Its status as a Gemeinde places local governance at the municipal level within the Austrian federal system, in which Styria is one of the country's nine federal states.
