Rauris

Austria

Rauris is a municipality in the Austrian state of Salzburg, located in the Pinzgau region. It has a population of about 3,150 residents.

The area is part of Austria's Alpine landscape in the Salzburg Alps, and the municipality is known for its mountain setting and the Rauris Valley (Rauriser Tal), which forms part of the Hohe Tauern range. The valley has historically been associated with gold mining, a legacy reflected in local place names and heritage sites.

Rauris serves as a small administrative and residential centre for the surrounding valley communities, with tourism and agriculture playing roles in the local economy. Its location within the Pinzgau district places it among the traditional Alpine municipalities of Salzburg.
