Hof bei Salzburg is a municipality in the district of Salzburg-Umgebung, in the state of Salzburg, Austria. It lies in the Austrian Alps region of the country, within the federal state whose capital is the city of Salzburg.
As a municipality, Hof bei Salzburg is a local administrative unit rather than a city, and it forms part of the Salzburg-Umgebung district, the district that surrounds but does not include the statutory city of Salzburg itself. The municipality is situated in the Salzkammergut lake district, near the shores of Lake Fuschl, roughly 20 kilometres east of the city of Salzburg.
Its position in the Alpine foothills places it among the lakes and mountains of the Salzkammergut, a landscape that has made the surrounding area a destination for hiking and other outdoor recreation. The community is served by the Wolfgangsee railway line, which connects it with Salzburg and the neighbouring towns of the region.
