Bergheim is a municipality in the district of Salzburg-Umgebung, in the state of Salzburg, Austria. It lies in the Salzburg Basin just north of the city of Salzburg, to which it is effectively a neighbouring community.
The Plainberg, a hill topped by the Maria Plain pilgrimage church, forms the border between Bergheim and the city of Salzburg to the south. Maria Plain is a well-known pilgrimage site and viewpoint over the Salzburg area, and the hill and its church are the municipality's most prominent landmark.
Bergheim's position on the northern edge of Salzburg places it within the wider Salzburg metropolitan area, while its territory retains a separate municipal identity within the Salzburg-Umgebung district.
