Pötting is a municipality in the district of Grieskirchen, in the Austrian state of Upper Austria. It lies in the country's northern Alpine foreland, a region of rolling hills and farmland between the Danube and the Alps.
As a municipality, Pötting is one of the smaller administrative units of the Grieskirchen district, which sits in the Hausruckviertel, the western quarter of Upper Austria. The area around it is predominantly rural and agricultural, typical of the province's countryside.
Upper Austria's capital, Linz, lies to the east, while the provincial borders with Salzburg and Bavaria are relatively close by. The municipality is reached by road and is connected to the wider district through the local network centred on the town of Grieskirchen.
