Leonding is a town located in the state of Upper Austria, situated southwest of the city of Linz. It serves as a significant local population center, ranking as the most populous town within the Linz-Land district and the fourth most populous town in the entire state of Upper Austria.
The town's geography is defined by its proximity to several neighboring municipalities and natural landmarks. To the north, Leonding borders Puchenau and the Danube river. It shares western borders with Wilhering and Pasching, while it is bordered by Traun to the south and Linz to the east.
