Japons

Austria

Japons is a town in the district of Horn, in the Austrian state of Lower Austria. It lies in the Waldviertel, the northwestern quadrant of Lower Austria, a region of rolling granite hills and farmland bordering the Czech Republic.

The municipality is one of the smaller communities of the Horn district, which occupies the northern part of Lower Austria. Like other towns in the district, it is administered as a single municipality that may include several outlying villages and hamlets within its boundaries.

Japons is reached by road from the district capital, Horn, and lies within the broader catchment of the Waldviertel's market towns. Its setting is rural, with agriculture long forming the basis of the local economy, as is typical of the district's villages.
