Hirschbach

Austria

Hirschbach is a town in the district of Gmünd, in the Austrian state of Lower Austria. It lies in the northwestern part of the country, within the Waldviertel region that borders the Czech Republic.

The municipality is one of several small communities that make up the Gmünd district, an area characterized by its rural landscape, forests, and scattered villages rather than large urban centres. Like much of the Waldviertel, the surrounding terrain is hilly and wooded, and the local economy has traditionally been tied to agriculture and small-scale trades.

Hirschbach is administered as a municipality within the Austrian system of local government, with its own municipal council. It is connected to neighbouring towns in the district by regional roads, and the nearest larger town for services and transport links is the district capital, Gmünd.
