Bisamberg

Austria

Bisamberg is a municipality in the district of Korneuburg, in the Austrian state of Lower Austria. It lies in the northeastern part of the country, in the Weinviertel region north of Vienna, and forms part of the Korneuburg district alongside neighbouring communities such as Korneuburg, Langenzersdorf and Hagenbrunn.

The municipality takes its name from the Bisamberg, a hill of roughly 360 metres that rises just north of the Danube and marks the boundary between the Vienna Basin and the Weinviertel. The hill and its surrounding slopes are known for vineyards and for the dry grassland and woodland habitats that cover parts of its flanks, and it is a popular local destination for walking.

Bisamberg's proximity to Vienna has shaped its character: it functions in part as a residential community for people working in the capital, while retaining the wine-growing traditions typical of the region. It is connected to the surrounding area by road and by the local rail and bus network serving the Korneuburg district.
