Globasnitz is a town in the district of Völkermarkt, in the Austrian state of Carinthia. It lies in the southern part of the country, within a district whose administrative centre is the town of Völkermarkt.
Carinthia is Austria's southernmost state, and the Völkermarkt district sits in its south-eastern section, near the border with Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional settlement region of the Carinthian Slovenes, a recognised linguistic minority in the state.
Globasnitz is a small, rural settlement rather than a major urban centre, and it is known chiefly for its position within this bilingual border district of southern Carinthia.
