La Poma

Argentina

La Poma is a village and rural municipality in Salta Province, in northwestern Argentina. It is located in the Andean region of the province, within the department of La Poma, which takes its name from the settlement.

The area is known for its high-altitude Andean setting and for the Calchaquí Valleys region in which it lies, a landscape of arid mountains and valleys that stretches across parts of Salta. The village serves as the administrative seat of its rural municipality.

La Poma is one of the smaller and more remote settlements in Salta Province, and its economy and daily life are tied to the surrounding rural and mountainous terrain. It remains a minor locality rather than a major urban centre.
