La Caldera is a small town and municipality in Salta Province in northwestern Argentina. It lies roughly 25 kilometres north of the city of Salta, the provincial capital, within the region's subtropical Andean foothills.
The town serves as the administrative seat of La Caldera Department, one of the departments into which Salta Province is divided. Its position on the route north from the provincial capital places it along a corridor connecting the city of Salta with the province's northern valleys.
