El Carmen is a town and municipality in Jujuy Province, in northwestern Argentina. It is located in the Valle de los Pericos area of the province, near the city of San Salvador de Jujuy, the provincial capital.
The town lies in the fertile valley region of Jujuy, an area known for its agricultural production, particularly tobacco, and for its subtropical climate. El Carmen serves as the administrative centre of the El Carmen Department.
Like much of Jujuy, the area reflects a blend of Andean and Spanish colonial heritage, with nearby attractions including the Quebrada de Humahuaca and the Calilegua National Park. The town is connected by road to San Salvador de Jujuy and other parts of the province.
