Empedrado is a city in Corrientes Province, in northeastern Argentina. It is the administrative seat of the department of the same name, Empedrado Department, and lies along the Paraná River, roughly 50 kilometres south of the provincial capital, Corrientes.
The settlement sits in a region of wetlands and riverine terrain typical of the Paraná corridor, an area known for its fishing, especially for surubí and dorado, and for the sandy beaches and campsites along the riverbank. The city's name means "cobbled" or "paved" in Spanish, a reference to the cobblestone paving historically found in its streets.
Empedrado is connected to the rest of the province by National Route 12, which links it northward to Corrientes and southward toward Goya and beyond. Its economy is based mainly on agriculture, livestock, and services tied to the surrounding rural area, with river-based tourism playing a seasonal role.
