Villa Gesell is a seaside resort city on the Atlantic Coast of Argentina, located in Villa Gesell Partido in Buenos Aires Province. It sits within a coastal dune landscape along the Atlantic shoreline.
The city was founded in 1931, originally with the intention of turning a dune field into a timber plantation. Over time it developed into a resort settlement, and its growth allowed it to annex the nearby cities of Mar de las Pampas, Las Gaviotas and Mar Azul.
