San José de Balcarce is a city in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It lies about 51 km (32 mi) west of Mar del Plata and has a population of approximately 44,064. It is the head town of the Balcarce Partido, the administrative district that surrounds it.
The city is identified by the UN/LOCODE ARBCA. As the seat of its partido, it serves as the administrative centre for the surrounding area.
