Mpika

Zambia

Mpika is a town located in the Muchinga Province of Zambia. It serves as a significant geographical junction where the M1 road to Kasama and Mbala meets the Tanzam Highway, which connects Lusaka in the south-west to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in the north-east.

The town is situated between the Muchinga Escarpment to the east and extensive miombo plains to the west. It also features a railway station on the TAZARA Railway, located approximately 5 kilometres west of the town centre. As of the 2022 Zambian census, the Mpika district had a population of 149,063 inhabitants.
